Dusk Till Dawn, starring Quentin Tarantino and George Clooney, combines genres including black humour and vampires, culminating in an outrageous gothic gore-fest. 

At first, all seems normal in The Shining, another Stephen King classic. A writer accepts a job as caretaker of a remote hotel while it is closed for the winter. Things turn dark when two strange, identically dressed girls begin to appear in the corridors. 

Other spine-tingling Halloween movie suggestions include Shutter, Freaky, Haunt, Midsomer, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and -- for truth that is more frightening than fiction -- Devilsdorp.
